The events will consist of a 400 metre pool swim and then a 3 lap 5 kilometre run which will be well signed and marshalled. The run, aside from the first and last 100 metres is all on the school's grass playing fields.

The school is located just next to Junction 9 of the M5. A map showing the location can be found by

2008 Race Reports

Race 1 Report

Despite the recent rain and flooding in parts of Tewkesbury the first Aquathlon, organised by gogglepedaltrainer events, took place today (January 20th). This is first of a series of 4 events that are perfect for competitors who are new to multisport events or for the seasoned triathlete, looking to add some speed work into their pre season training.

A much welcomed break in the rain and unseasonally mild conditions saw 40 competitors successfully completed the 400 metre swim and 4k run. The run was shortened at the last moment in order to prevent the swim/run event becoming a swim/swim event, due to the amount of rainfall in the area this week!

The male and overall winner was Paul Horsfall in a time of 19:18. Paul recorded the fastest swim and run of the day (5:06 and 14:12). Second overall and first female was Caroline Jones (tricoachinguk.org) who pushed Paul all the way to record a finishing time of 19:50 (5:12 and 14:38).

Race 2 of the series will be on 17th February. For entry forms, along with full results from Race 1 please go to the relevant pages. Photos from the day will be available shortly at www.yourraceday.co.uk.

A big thankyou to all of the competitors, supporters, marshalls, caterers and helpers that helped the race run so smoothly - see you on the 17th February hopefully!

Race 2 Report

The near freezing temperatures were not enough to deter people from Round 2 of the Tewkesbury Aquathlon Series, organised by gogglepedaltrainer events. These series of 4 events are perfect for competitors who are new to multisport events or for the seasoned triathlete, looking to add some speed work into their pre season training.

The warm winter sunshine helped to create perfect race conditions which saw just under 30 athletes compete over a 400 metre swim and 5 kilometre run. The run was increased to 3 laps to make it an accurate course with mixed reactions from competitors as some saying the extra lap was a killer and others that they only just got going by the end.

The male and overall winner was Andrew Shipton (Stroud AC) in a time of 22:17. Andrew was using the race as preparation for an Ironman in the summer but showed he had not lost any speed as he recorded the second fastest swim and fastest run of the day (5:19 and 16:58). 18 year old Matthew Everest of Worcester Triathlon Club pushed hard to finish second overall in 22:56.

The female winner on the day was 20 year old Katie Silke of Coventry Triathlon Club who flew around the course recording the 4th fastest swim (5:22) and 10th fastest run (20:16) which landed her 7th overall on the day (25:38).  Second female and 12th overall was 17 year old Jessica Wheatley, also of Worcester Triathlon Club who finished in a time of 27:50.

Round 3 of the series will be on 23rd March. For entry forms, along with full results from Rounds 1 and 2 please go to the relevant pages. Photos from the day are available at www.yourraceday.co.uk.

A big thankyou to all of the competitors, supporters, marshalls, caterers and helpers that helped the race run so smoothly.  We hope you enjoyed the day and to see you on the 23rd March!

Race 3 Report

Round 3 of the Tewkesbury Aquathlon Series on Easter Sunday was again lucky with the weather with the clouds parting and sun shining through before the start.  These series of 4 events are perfect for competitors who are new to multisport events or for the seasoned triathlete, looking to add some speed work into their pre season training.

There were excellent performances all round with many people seeing improvements from earlier races in the series but the stand out athlete of the day was Rhys Davey (Tri UK).  The youngster is reaping the benefits of training at Kelly College with several of the country's top triathletes and set the quickest swim time (4:40) and run time (17:22) of the day to set a course record which will surely be hard to beat.  Second was Phil Parsons, 1:37 behind Davey, and January race winner Paul Horsfall coming home Third.

Female winner on the day, once again, was 19 year old Katie Silke (Coventry Triathletes).  The fourth fastest swim of the day helped Katie finish over 30 seconds clear of Second placed Sharron Sheppard who gained time back on the run but was not enough.  Third place was Runner up from the February race, Jessica Wheatley (Worcester Triathlon Club).

With 3 races completed, the title of Series Champion is heating up with Andrew Cogger now leading the series just ahead of Roddy Gosden and with both due to compete next weekend in the final race of the series it should be an excellent race.  In the race for Female Series Champion, Katie Silke is in pole position with 2 wins so far, can anyone catch her?  We shall see on the 20th April.

Thanks again to all those who competed, the volunteers and sponsors Science In Sport and Asics.  Hopefully see you next time.

Race 4 Report

The 2008 Tewkesbury Aquathlon Series has been blessed with dry weather at each race and this was no different for the final race held today where at the end of a very wet week the field was in good condition and thanks to a recent cut, was ripe for some personal bests from earlier races of the series.

The racing was very fast with 10 competitors getting under 6 minutes for the 400 metre swim and all the top 6 overall breaking the 20 minute barrier for the 5 kilometre run.  There were many excellent performances from regulars throughout the series but on the day the spoils went to Joel Enoch (Team Fitness 4 Less) with the 2nd fastest swim (5:26) and the fastest run (17:42) of the day making him the clear winner (23:08) by almost a minute from the much improved Andrew Cogger (24:02) and Peter Darton in third (24:27).

In the Female race, winner at both the February and March events, 20 year old Katie Silke (Coventry Triathletes) was hoping to make it 3 out of 3, and that she did.  Recording the fastest swim time of the day (5:18) she made the race look easy crossing the line in 25:55 and finishing 7th overall on the day.  Series regulars Jessica Wheatley (Worcester Triathlon Club) and Julia Newberry (Cheltenham Triathlon Club) came home 2nd and 3rd respectively, just over 2 minutes down on the winner.

So how did these results affect the Overall Series?  For the Ladies it meant Katie Silke was the winner, with 3 wins, second was Jessica Wheatley, with Julia Newberry moving up to 3rd overall following an impressive performance on the day.  The men's side of things was a a closer affair but 2nd on the day gave Andrew Cogger the title with 10 points, just edging out Roddy Gosden (Tewkesbury Triathlon Club) on 12 points and Peter Darton finishing 3rd with 13 points.

A big thank you once again to all those who competed, our sponsors Science In Sport and Asics and thank you to all the volunteers, some who helped at every race and those who did not mind stepping in at the last minute.  We hope you had as much fun as we did and to see you next year.
